Just The Beginning

It wasn’t what I planned…

I got my Master’s Degree in Education, Guidance and Counseling. In 1997.  I did the training, the internship, the homework, the tests….then the state licensure.  ALL OF IT.

Then, in June of 1999, while working at the Employee Assistance Program at Deaconess Medical Center and the Private Practice I started…. my client chose to kill himself.  A year later I was named in the lawsuit and then spent 4 years in the legal battle.  Some of you have been with me this entire time. Some of you have never heard this story.  Let me tell you ~it’s a doozy.

It was – and still is – a defining moment in my career, purpose, and most certainly – my life.

But, I am not here to talk about all of that and the life lessons that resulted from it. I have written about it in one of my books and a few blogs, too. I have done years of therapy related to what this did to my career esteem. I worked for a decade basically for FREE, feeling like I had the pay the price of that man’s death. I have served my time… and then some.

The story within this story is that I have learned over and over again to rise. To restart. To reinvent who I am. To recover.

I have learned through the lawsuit, through infertility, a divorce, and then rock bottom in my drinking in 2013 (and now 8 plus years of recovery ~~ WOO HOO!!) that every story has more to it

New beginnings, my friend!

Out of ALL of this, new businesses have been created.

I’ve learned new things about myself.

I love helping people create…again.

In life and business.

To rise up….once more.

To decide.

To flourish.

To write a new chapter in the story.

To start something ~ or to end something.
