What’s your business, Allison, and who are your customers?
I’m a Christian counselor. I see all kinds of clients, including couples, parents, individual adults, and individual kids 5+. I specialize in grief, trauma, kids with scholastic difficulties, and parenting help. My special sweet spot is for the woman I call The Exhausted Christian Woman.
What’s one business tip that you use in your business that you would like to share with our readers?
I have found that if you don’t love it, you shouldn’t be doing it. If we love our work, we bring an extra energy and “genius” to it.
Why did you decide that you were ready to join the Braver Together Mastermind and what would you say about it to those who are considering joining?
I need to up my visibility and hone toward my specialties. A lot of that’ll be about gaining confidence in my specialties, and Diane has a genius for encouraging women to walk in their callings with confidence.
What’s one of the bravest things you have ever done in your life? It might not have anything to do with business.
I have made a lot of life changes in the last several years. Looking closely at the hardships in my life and questioning myself about who might be the people repeatedly causing the hardships is a big one. So was taking the steps to place those people in lower branches of my levels of trust. Their behavior told me where they needed to go.
What is a BRAVE business challenge you have overcome or a pivot you have made that would could help inspire other women?
Starting a second career in what I love (counseling) was a big call to brave! I am so glad I did it.
My counseling is all about loving people first, just as Jesus would do. Part of love is also calling people into using their gifts and walking in those everyday, which then inspires others to do the same.
