168 Hours

168 hours blog post by Diane Cunningham Ellis

168 hours in a week.  What are you using yours for?

Let’s take a look and do some pondering…

Sleep for 7 or 8 hours?

Let’s pretend none of us have insomnia and we all get 8 hours a night.  That is 56 hours total.

We now have 112 hours left.

Work.

If you work full time, subtract 40 hours.  Or more or less, based on your working schedule or entrepreneurial life.

For the sake of this, I am going to subtract 40.   That leaves us 72 hours a week.

Nourishment and Prep.

We take time to eat, prepare food, shop for the food.  Let’s say that is 3 hours a day, give or take.  21 hours a week.

At this point, we each have 51 hours left.

Some of you have to commute. Some of you work from home.

Some have kids, some are caring for aging parents.

Some of you live in the country. Some live in the city.

Some are single. Some are married.

51 hours left. One day at a time.  24 hour sections.

The TV or Screen or Netflix.

Do you use them to watch TV for 3 hours a night?  That subtracts 21 of them.

Now what? We now have 30 hours left.

With your 30 plus hours a week…

  • Will you exercise?
  • Write a book?
  • Plant a garden?
  • Learn to knit?
  • Will you volunteer with the homeless?
  • Train for a marathon?
  • Help others as a sponsor in recovery?

Or will you mindlessly scroll through the feed on your device?

Will you tell me you don’t have the time to change your habits?

Will you change your life or just talk about others who have the courage to change theirs?

Either way… we each get 24 hours. We get today. I am using all of my minutes and embracing this glorious journey!!
