They are sneaky buggers…
Fear can look like:
- Perfectionism
- Not asking the question
- Not launching
- Not getting the support, mentoring, coaching
- Overthinking
- Overgiving
- People pleasing
- Anger and resentment
- Depression (anger turned inward)
- Addictions (all forms: food, booze, gambling, shopping, underearning)
- Being Tired all the time… (sleeping, Netflixing)
- Etc. etc.
In my 12-step program, we talk about the 100 forms of fear… it is actually a huge section of our AA book. We also do a FEAR INVENTORY. Cause we gotta look that crap in the face and write it down.
I didn’t know I was afraid for years… cause I was covering it up with drinking every night. Before that with food (overeating and restricting, both).
After I got sober in 2013, I realized how much anxiety I had. I looked it in the FACE.
The year I got sober, I went every day to a meeting, and sometimes I went twice. They told me that the suggestion was to do 90 minutes in 90 days and I wanted FREEDOM so I did what was suggested. I listened. I did my step work.
I was also coaching private clients and leading NACWE. I told my private clients what I was going through and they supported me with BOLDNESS.
I realized that I had to FOCUS on myself and TRUST that God had a plan and SURRENDER to the fact that my health must take priority. An amazing thing happened…
The year I got sober, I made $50,000 more than the year before. I was truly in shock.
I believe in brave. I practice what I teach, preach and coach on.
I believe in looking my FEAR in the FACE and getting help.
I invest the highest amount I can manage to get support. I also get support in my 12-step programs, for FREE… I do the work.
The work is hard… You know what I mean.
No one wakes up wanting to go to AA.
No one puts GO TO COUNSELING on their vision board.
But everyone wants freedom.
Everyone wants courage.
Everyone wants flexibility.
Everyone wants to use their gifts, live their purpose.
What FEAR do you want to let go of today?
